Sources, not speculation.
National Weather Service
Weather alerts use the NWS API. Official area warnings remain area-wide; the app does not guess an incident location. The feed is free to use, subject to reasonable rate limits. Documentation: www.weather.gov ↗
National Center for Missing & Exploited Children
Recent public missing-child notices use NCMEC’s public poster feed and link to the original notice. Chismosa does not accept community-created missing-person alerts.
U.S. Geological Survey
Recent regional earthquake information uses the official USGS GeoJSON feed and links to the original event.
Chismosa community
Community observations use preset categories, approximate locations, and an Unconfirmed label. They contain no photos or free-text allegations and expire after two hours.
NYC DOT and NYC 311
DOT and 311 connectors were evaluated but are excluded from the launch incident map. DOT sensor readings describe measured traffic speeds, not confirmed accidents. NYC 311 service requests are updated daily and remain unconfirmed, approximate civic observations. Only selected infrastructure categories are used; private-address and person-focused reports are excluded. Open Data terms: opendata.cityofnewyork.us ↗
Other sources
511NY requires a developer key for its regular events API. Redistribution restrictions and the publicly accessible work-zone feed require a source-specific review before activation. Notify NYC’s official RSS was located and returned zero current items during validation. Its CAP adapter is disabled pending commercial reuse review. Utility outage integrations are not active. There is no comprehensive live 911 feed in this implementation.
Languages
The interface supports English and Spanish. Agency messages retain their original text. Translations, if added, must be labeled and linked to the original; they never create facts or verify incidents.
